concept
As a "1.5 level dental medical institution"
specializing in endodontic treatment ,
we will expand the circle of collaboration in dental treatment.

While family dental clinics and university hospitals (hospital dental clinics) already exist as primary and secondary dental care facilities, there are still few 1.5-level dental clinics that focus solely on specialized areas and collaborate with local family dental clinics. While pediatric dentistry and orthodontics are common, the number of dental clinics specializing in root canal treatment (endodontics), the key to tooth preservation, is extremely limited.
As a 1.5-level dental clinic specializing in endodontics, we provide university hospital-level endodontic care to patients living in the Kanto region, as well as anyone with access. Through our clinical collaboration with your family dental clinic, we aim to establish new standards in Japanese dentistry. Furthermore, our clinic is certified as a training facility by Japan Endodontic Association and an associate training facility certified by Japanese Dental Specialty Board. In addition to providing specialized dental care, we also foster and produce excellent young endodontists.

Director / DDS, Ph.D.
AAE Certified Endodontist / Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics Specialist
Toshinori Tanaka
Greetings.
My name is Toshinori Tanaka, a specialist of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics.
After completing a specialized endodontics program in the United States, I returned to Japan and have been providing endodontic treatment to patients referred from other clinics at Kawakatsu Oral Health Clinic for 15 years.
For the first few years, most patients were referred by their regular dentist, but recently, half of my patients have searched to find an endodontic specialist to have a better solution and asked his/her family dentist.
At the same time, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare has made it possible to advertise the term "conservative dentist" in September 2024, providing more opportunities for everyone to know about "tooth preservation" and "root canal treatment."
As Japan moves toward a more integrated medical network, I will work diligently to become a trusted, accessible, and accessible source of consultation and collaboration for patients needing root canal treatment, their regular dentists, and others.

treatment
Do you have any of these concerns?
First of all, preventative maintenance is important to prevent the need for treatment, and if treatment becomes unavoidable, we must do our best from a long-term perspective.
At our clinic, we explore the possibility of preserving the tooth nerve (dental pulp) and tooth, and propose the most appropriate treatment method.

I want to preserve the nerve of the tooth as much as possible.
Pulp preservation treatment is a treatment that removes only infected tissue and preserves as much of the tooth's nerve as possible.
By preserving the nerve, the tooth's lifespan can be expected to be extended and damage to the tooth itself can be minimized. Another major benefit is that less tooth structure needs to be removed compared to root canal treatment, which removes all of the tooth's nerves.
This treatment is suitable when conservative treatment is possible as much as possible.

I want to treat my throbbing tooth
A "root canal" refers to the space inside the tooth that contains the nerves and blood vessels (dental pulp). The dental pulp plays an important role, providing sensations such as sensitivity and acting as a defense against bacterial infection.
However, if the bacteria that cause tooth decay affect the dental pulp, it can cause throbbing pain and facial swelling. If left untreated, the condition will not heal naturally and will eventually worsen, so appropriate treatment is necessary.

Root canal treatment does not cure
Surgical endodontic therapy is a treatment that uses surgical techniques to improve problems that cannot be solved by conventional root canal treatment. There are a certain number of cases where the progress is poor, even though root canal treatment that has already been performed has been appropriate.
When retreatment (re-root canal treatment) does not promise improvement, a surgical endodontic approach becomes an option.

Regenerate lost tooth nerves and blood vessels
When tooth decay progresses to the tooth's nerve (dental pulp), standard treatment involves removing the entire pulp, cleaning the inside, and then sealing it with dental materials.
In contrast, pulp regeneration therapy involves transplanting processed cells containing dental pulp stem cells into the root canal instead of dental materials, and regenerating pulp tissue, including the tooth's nerves and blood vessels.
