Clinic Director introduction

Clinic Director / DDS, Ph.D

AAE Certified Endodontist/Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics Specialist

Toshinori Tanaka

田中 利典

Greetings. My name is Toshinori Tanaka, a specialist of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics.
After completing a specialized endodontic program in the United States, I returned to Japan and have been providing endodontic treatment at Kawakatsu Oral Health Clinic for 15 years.
For the first few years, most patients were referred by their regular dentist, but recently, half of my patients have searched to find an endodontic specialist to have a better solution and asked his/her family dentist.
At the same time, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare has made it possible to advertise the term “Specialist of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics” in September 2024, providing more opportunities for people to know about tooth preservation and root canal treatment.
Furthermore, in recent years, numerous reports have been published regarding tooth preservation and overall health, reaffirming the importance of saving tooth and the value of preserving dental nerves.

Due to changes in medical needs in society, taking action of Japanese Dental Specialty Board, and growing expectations for saving tooth to lead to a long and healthy life, I felt a sense of mission to contribute even more to society through my own expertise and experience, and have now decided to open a clinic specializing in endodontic treatment.

We will work wholeheartedly to become a reliable and familiar place for medical consultations and collaboration for patients who are having trouble with root canal treatment, their family doctors, and for Japan, which is moving towards a society where medical collaboration will become more widespread.

Dentist introduction

Vice Director / DDS, Ph.D.

Sota Mochizuki

Greetings. My name is Sota Mochizuki, and I am the vice director of Tokyo Institute of Endodontics.
I have been working in endodontic treatment at the caries outpatient clinic at Tokyo Medical and Dental University Hospital (now Institute of Science Tokyo Hospital) for five years. I also completed graduate studies in the Department of Pulp Biology and Endodontics (a laboratory specializing in endodontic treatment) at Tokyo Medical and Dental University, and am currently a part-time lecturer in this field, conducting research on endodontic treatment and educating dental students.

Dental university hospitals in Tokyo are seeing a large concentration of patients from the greater Tokyo area who are having trouble with root canal treatment, and at the Institute of Science Tokyo Hospital’s caries outpatient clinic, there are currently wait times of over six months before treatment can begin.
Because of the long wait times before treatment can begin, I have seen many patients give up on visiting the clinic altogether, or are forced to choose other treatment options, such as extracting teeth they wish to keep . Given this background, I felt the need for a medical institution that could provide more advanced root canal treatment closer to patients, and so I decided to work at Tokyo Institute of Endodontics.

In order to meet the wishes of those who want to keep their own teeth, we will use the evidence-based clinical experience we have gained at a university hospital to provide the best possible treatment.
